Who wins in a fight to death between 100 unarmed men against one silverback gorilla?
This has been a topic of debate of great interest with about half the respondents favouring the silverback and the other half favouring the men.
Each side has reasons: 100 strong men, will wear the silverback gorilla out and subdue it, says one side.
The men will rush in with a mindset of predator, not prey.
Human beings, the most intelligent creatures, must stop underestimating themselves and will come with a winning fight plan, they concluded.
The other side remind men of the qualities of the silverback gorilla.
A fully grown silverback weighs about 190kg (418 pounds) and stands at six feet tall.
The femur is twice the size of ours and the bones are up to four times thicker.
It has a bite force of 1,300 pounds per square inch with well-developed canines.
The hide is so thick that a man cannot bite through it and harm it.
A silverback gorilla is at least 10 times stronger than a man and can lift up to 4,000 pounds of dead weight.
The cranial bones are so tough, no man can headbutt it without getting injured badly.
A silverback gorilla can run up to 25 miles an hour and is very agile.
It can easily tear off a man’s limbs or crush his skull by hand.
The major disadvantage that the men have is that they cannot break its bones, bite, choke, or really harm it.
So, even an angry but tired silverback gorilla can still headbutt, bite, tear down a hundred men.
The good news is that this will never happen.
Despite the atrocities written against the silverback gorillas in the wild, they are actually gentle and friendly; they never hunt and are strictly herbivorous.
