The Vice Presidential debate between Tim Walz (Democrat) and T. D. Vance (Republican) was hosted by CBS News on 2 October, 2024, before the election on 5 November, 2024.
Both men started nervously, spoke too fast and failed to answer questions directly many times.
When asked that former President Donald Trump, the Republican Presidential candidate, once said that climate change is a hoax, both candidates said they will work to mitigate the effects of climate change without saying how or when. They also failed to directly say if it is a hoax or not.
None of them talked about fracking, which is a big issue in Pennsylvania, but say they will encourage clean energy.
Their mention of solar energy was in making sure solar panels were produced in US instead of losing the jobs to other countries like China and Mexico.
Hurricane Helene was an unfortunate incident, and they condoled with the casualties.
They were sympathetic to victims of gun violence, and both spoke against strict gun control. They would rather educate Americans more on dangers of gun violence.
The two candidates support building more houses, boosting healthcare and growing the economy.
Abortion was to be left for states and the woman in question and her doctor to decide.
The Republican candidate however, appeared pro-life, but both men want IVF promoted.
It seemed more of a conversation than a legitimate debate.
The only point of real difference was whether Trump was correct in rejecting the election results when he lost to President Joe Biden. That fact and the Capitol Hill riot were dismissed by T. D. Vance and both men pledged to work for the future no matter the party that wins.
The other slightly contentious point was the Republicans blaming President Biden and Kamala Harris for the weak borders and insisting on deporting illegal immigrants while Democrats will work on stopping more of them from coming.
Illegal immigrants eating, or not eating, dogs and cats in Springfield which was expected to be an issue as it was in the Presidential debate between Trump and Kamala Harris, did not come up at all.
Only about two per cent of Mexican border wall was built when Trump was President and Mexico did not pay for it as promised during that campaign.
Apart from reminding Vance that Springfield has a huge population of legal migrants, none of the men was really fact-checked for the one hour, forty-five minutes of the debate.
People had expected this last debate to be explosive and to help many undecided voters make up their minds which party to vote for.
