Israel and Iran agreed to a ceasefire in the morning of 24 June, 2025, after President Donald Trump authorized the use of bunker-buster bombs by B-2 Stealth bombers on the Uranium enrichment sites in Natanz, Fordow and Esfahan in Iran.

The attack completely destroyed any of Iran’s fledgling military nuclear capability and capacity to enrich Uranium.

The attack was with 12 bombs on early 22 June, 2025.

Centrifuges for enriching Uranium are sensitive to vibration and cannot survive the quake caused by such bombs, even if they are not destroyed outright.

IAEA says no radioactive leaks has been reported but has been asking for cessation of hostility to enable its staff in Iran to further monitor the situation.

lsrael attacked the nuclear sites and other military targets in Iran in a bid to prevent Iran from developing a military nuclear capacity.

Some of the centrifuges for Uranium enrichment are hidden deep underground and only the US bunker-buster bombs can destroy them.

On 13 June, 2025, Israel confirmed the killing of top nine Iranian scientists involved in that country’s nuclear programme, who Israel claims, are working to produce atomic bombs.

At least 100 war planes were involved in the attack of Uranium enrichment site in Natanz and other military targets in Iran by Israel.

A UN Resolution bars Iran from developing nuclear weapons, and Israel believes she will be a target of such weapon of mass destruction.

The attack by Israel killed

Fereydoun Abbasi-Davani, a nuclear scientist and Head of Iran’s Atomic Energy Organisation. He earlier survived an Israeli assassination attempt in 2010,

Mohammed Mehdi Teranchi,

Theoretical Physicist and President, Islamic Azad University in Tehran,

Abdolhamid Manouchehr, Head of Faculty of Nuclear Engineering, Shahid Beheshti University,

Ahmad Zolfaghari, a nuclear engineer,

Akbar Motalibi Zadeh, a Chemical Engineer,

Ali Bahuei Katirimi, an expert in Mechanics,

Mansour Asgari, physicist,

Saeed Barji, a Materials Engineer, and

Amir Hassan Fakhahi, a physicist.

Iran buried their remains on July 1, 2025, following a ceasefire to hostility agreed with Israel.

A recent IAEA report shows that Iran has attained 60% Uranium enrichment level locally. About 90% enrichment and above is considered weapon grade.

Iran is a signatory to the Nuclear Non-Proliferstion Treaty, NPT, and denies planning to build an atomic bomb.
