Israel has confirmed the killing of top nine Iranian scientists involved in that country’s nuclear programme, which Israel claims, is working to produce atomic bombs.
At least 100 war planes were involved in the attack of Uranium enrichment site in Natanz and other military targets in Iran by Israel on 13 June, 2025.
A UN Resolution bars Iran from developing nuclear weapons, and Israel believes she will be a target of such weapon of mass destruction.
The attack killed
Fereydoun Abbasi-Davani, a nuclear scientist and Head of Iran’s Atomic Energy Organisation. He earlier survived an Israeli assassination attempt in 2010,
Mohammed Mehdi Teranchi,
Theoretical Physicist and President, Islamic Azad University in Tehran,
Abdolhamid Manouchehr, Head of Faculty of Nuclear Engineering, Shahid Beheshti University,
Ahmad Zolfaghari, a nuclear engineer,
Akbar Motalibi Zadeh, a Chemical Engineer,
Ali Bahuei Katirimi, an expert in Mechanics,
Mansour Asgari, physicist,
Saeed Barji, a Materials Engineer, and
Amir Hassan Fakhahi, a physicist.
A recent IAEA report shows that Iran has attained 60% Uranium enrichment level locally. About 70% enrichment and above is considered weapon grade.
Iran is a signatory to the Nuclear Non-Proliferstion Treaty and denies planning to build an atomic bomb.
