The full Moon in April is called the Pink Moon.
The name came from native Americans as first published by Maine Farmers’ Almanac in the 1930s.
Pink phlox flowers start blooming this period to coincide with the peak of Spring.
The Pink Moon is also called the Sprouting Grass Moon, Egg Moon, Passover Moon as it coincides with the Jewish feast of Passover, and even Fish Moon.
Astrologers believe it affects people’s fortunes and creates breakthroughs in business and finances.
For 2024, the Pink Moon will be seen up to 96% from 23 to 25 April.
It will be seen clearly in America on 23; Africa, India and UK on 24, before it disappears on 25 April, 2024.
Sky watchers are concerned that this may dull the bright lights from Lyrid meteor shower expected to peak from 23 to 29 April, 2024.
Whatever happens, nature promises something spectacular, even if it is for a short while, before the end of April.
