Nigcomsat ltd, owners of Nigeria’s communications satellite, Nigcomsat-1R, held a retreat in Abuja with the theme: Refining the Nigcomsat roadmap for exponential growth.
This is the first under the new Managing Director, Tukur Mohammed Lawal, who was not happy with the revenue generation capacity of the company and asked the members of staff to work hard to turn that around.
He said the workers have two choices: “Either survive in this industry or to perish.”
He pledged to remodel Nigcomsat’s business development plan and give it a competitive edge.
The main challenge with Nigcomsat ltd is that it has only one communications satellite. To be globally competitive, it needs at least three.
The company plans to launch a High Throughput satellite but is finding the process long and difficult.
The Chairman of the board, Yusuf Kazaure, urged the workers to co-operate with the management and board and work as a team to ensure the success of the company.
The retreat opened on 7 March, 2023 and lasted two days.
