It took Dr Nick Axten 52 years to complete his PhD.
He started in 1970 at the University of Pittsburgh in US with a Fullbright scholarship in Mathematical Sociology.
He however, abandoned the programme five years after and travelled back to UK.
He enrolled with the University of Bristol and studied for a Master’s in 2016 in Philosophy and a PhD also in Philosophy in 2022.
He was officially awarded the doctorate degree on 14 February, 2023 at the age 76 years.
