Scholarships for studies to save the gorilla

The Nigeria Conservation Foundation, NCF, has offered scholarships in the University of Calabar, Nigeria, for studies in wildlife conservation to save endangered gorillas.

The natural habitat of gorillas is threatened by logging and deforestation.

The NCF thought that gorillas were extinct in Nigeria until 1982 when some were discovered in Cross River State.

The Memorandum of Understanding, MoU, covers the training of four Master’s and one Ph.D student by the university in gorilla conservation research work in Cross River State, Nigeria, for five years.

The Director-General of NCF, Dr Joseph Onoja, and the Vice Chancellor of the University of Calabar, Professor Florence Obi, signed the MoU.
